Quick Wesley and Cason Update...

For those of you who don't already know, I wanted to update on my blog about what happened with Wesley this week...

It was his week to get his monthly labs done and the results came back on Tuesday.  We were called and told that his creatinine had elevated and they wanted more bloodwork.  They were concerned about various things.  We got more bloodwork and then saw Dr. Brophy on Friday.  His concern is that Wesley may be in the beginning stages of rejection.  There will be a slew of bloodwork and tests done on him over the next few weeks, he was taken off of one of his anti-rejection meds because those are immunosupressants and the concern is this virus (called the BK Virus) that Wesley has may be attacking his kidney, so they have decided that maybe taking him off of that med will help his body to fight the virus.  The problem with that is that he will be off one of his anti-rejection meds and in turn could go into full rejection.  It's a scary balancing act.

We are taking it day by day, keeping a close eye on him and his doctors are as well.  We are scared for our little man.  We have had our struggles with him and his behaviors, but this situation has shaken us and made us realize that we love him so much more than we thought.  He is our son and the thought of losing him is not something we are willing to accept at this point.  Please keep Wesley in your prayers!

Thank you!

And I better add a quick note on Cason...

He is doing great!  He got some little ankle/foot braces a few days ago that will help him to learn to stand and walk properly.  He continues to be the easiest child in the world...and happiest.  Not a whole lot to report that's new for him aside that he is constantly progressing and learning new things every day and is absolutely amazing and shocks us constantly with his new tricks! :)  We love him more than words!
