Foster Family Annual Picnic

We attended the annual picnic put on for local foster families a couple of weeks ago. There were tons of people there and lots of diverse families. It was really great for Wesley to see because unfortunately for him, he is ordinarily surrounded in a sea of white people. We have a couple of friends who have transracial families, but not ones we spend tons of time with. He notices. I didn't think he did because of his age and he obviously doesn't seem insecure or like he even notices, but when put in a setting where there were people with the same color skin as he has who have mommies and daddies with the same color skin as Sean and I...he noticed. His demeanor was different...it's crazy. Not at all what I expected. We are definitely still learning!

Tate had a blast too...

The playground at the park the picnic was at was great...it was filled with TONS of kids!

We put Cason in a swing for the first time.
Do you think he liked it?

...NOPE!
He hated it...couldn't get out fast enough.
Probably just a bit much stimulation for the poor little guy!

It's great to be surrounded by families in the same boat as you are.  SO many of these people were just so amazing...I couldn't believe what many of them have taken on.
