Seriously, I almost didn't want to post this video purely because of how annoying my voice is in it! Really, it's obnoxious! However, I had good reason! This video shows a HUGE step for Cason! You see, he had a mild stroke at 12 weeks of age after his head injury and has pretty severe weakness on his left side due to that. In physical therapy, it is something we work extensively on. When he rolls, whether it's from tummy to back or back to tummy, he rolls so that he is rolling over his right side. It's the only way he knows how...until tonight! This video is the very first time he rolled over his left side! And it was a back to tummy roll to boot! He just learned to roll back to tummy over his right side a week ago! We didn't know if he would EVER do it before he crawled or walked. His physical therapist said it may never happen, but we have kept trying.
I had my camera by me and had noticed he was laying on his left side (which he NEVER does) and we work multiple times a day with him rolling to his left so I grabbed my camera just as he appeared he might do it and for goodness sake HE DID IT! As you can hear in my crazy voice, I was super excited! He did it 1 other time after this video, but not anymore. This was taken just before he was put down for bed and he is sick and so tired, so hopefully when he's more awake and feeling better, he'll roll to his left more regularly and catch on! This is huge for him...HUGE! I cannot believe how FAST he catches onto things! He really is so smart and determined...oh man, I am over the moon proud of this boy! What a miracle and blessing he is to us!
Just a week ago, we were discussing with his physical therapist about this milestone and how this would be an extremely huge leap for him to accomplish...she said it would likely take him a while to accomplish it, but with work and time and repitition, he would hopefully accomplish it. His physical therapist is AMAZING and has so much hope for him and is always so positive and we couldn't love her more. She is so helpful and has been a huge asset to Cason's progression physically. Well apparently he proved us all wrong again by catching on super quickly and doing it within a week! I hope he keeps surprising us like this!
I love in this video how you can see his determination...he just kept trying and trying and finally flipped over!
Love it!
