We accepted the placement of an adorable little 11 month old boy named Anthony yesterday. We have had the pleasure to spend some time with him over these last 8 days and were quickly smitten by him. :) We know there is risk involved and this could all end in heartbreak, but have been told that this will "almost certainly turn into an adoption". We are prepared and WANT to adopt Anthony. From everything we know about his case, we just can't see him ending up with anyone besides us.
His future is unknown as he suffered a brain injury at 2 months old. It makes me feel physically sick that someone could hurt this baby (or ANY baby!) so severely. He went through a lot following his brain injury, but is progressing amazingly well. We don't know what God has in store for us in regard to Anthony, but we pray that we are able to love and care for him forever!
After the news that we were selected as the family they wanted Anthony with, everything moved quickly. In fact, we got him that very night! We have him in our home until tomorrow night and have soaked up every second with him! He is a JOY! His smile and his little giggle and his snuggles...oh, I could just eat him up! We are both in love with him and Tate really likes him! Ha. He is doing great with Anthony and says that he is so excited and loves him, but we aren't quite convinced that he actually feels that way yet! :) We know that this is going to be quite the adjustment for Tate and we are prepared for some struggles ahead.
We hope to get Anthony for good on Christmas Day!!! However, there is a chance it may not be until December 27th. Either way, he is the most amazing Christmas gift we could have asked for!
Thank you God for bringing this amazing little boy into our family no matter how long it may be! We are over the moon tonight!
