I just might cry...

Today was a bit crazy...as is my life...

We had Wesley's monthly appointment at the U this morning. He gets labs and meets with his amazing doctor and medical team. We got to meet them all today, we loved them! Oh my, they are all so amazing. And Wesley is amazing!!! He sat there for 3 HOURS and did wonderful. It was super impressive! Meeting with his medical team was so necessary for us and made us feel so much better about everything - his care, his g-tube, his future. It put us at ease.

Mom watched Cason while we were in Iowa City and though he is always so good, he has not been himself. In fact, over the last 5 weeks, he has been sick and lost 1 lb! Not good. He isn't eating well and the weight loss was becoming a concern. So once we got back home after picking him up from mom's, I took him into the doctor. Turns out he STILL has an ear infection and has done the strongest oral antibiotic so now we're onto the shots. 3 days in a row of us going to his doctor so he can get a shot. If that doesn't work...it's tubes. So the shot was not fun for him. Then, we had to wait in the office for 20 minutes before we could go so that they could check him to make sure he didn't react badly.

During that 20 minute wait, Wesley's foster mom calls me to tell me that the U called and Wesley's labs weren't good. He is low on iron and with all of the iron supplements he gets, this should not be happening. Due to this, his medical team is getting together to discuss changing his medications a bit to hopefully solve this. The problem is that Wesley is on 8 meds each day and if one gets changed, typically 2 or 3 others need changed to avoid a bad "mix". So this will be happening right as we learned about all of his current meds and what they're for. Guess we can forget all of that! The medication adjustments are going to happen to hopefully prevent this from occuring again, but the problem still needs fixed. So he has to go into the U for a 5 day cycle of iron infusions via IV. Ugh. So next week, every morning, he will be going to the hospital for that. We will not be taking him for those as we have adjusted our transition schedule and were not going to have him during the week next week anyway.

Hopefully 1 week of these iron infusions will cut it, but if he needs more, we may need to take him for those right from the get go upon him moving in with us. We're just jumping right in, I guess! We are up for it, we just feel bad for Wesley and him having to deal with all of this. :(

I decided to cancel our 3 therapy appointments for Cason tomorrow as he has just not been up to par and I feel like he just needs a day to relax with no therapy. We have one appointment with his guardian ad litem at 8am and then his 2nd shot at 11am and then we don't have any other appointments until Monday! Whew!

Wesley comes on Saturday morning and we will have him overnight for the first time. We will return him to his foster family on Sunday and then get him again on Friday for 2 nights. Then, he will return to his foster family for a few nights before we get him again possibly for good. We will decide during that first week of having him if we feel it would be beneficial for him to have one more trip back and forth or better for him just to stay.

We covet your prayers in regards to Wesley's health, Cason's health and a healthy transition for ALL the boys (Tate may have the toughest time of all 3!) and for Sean and I! Oh, and maybe some prayers for my sanity to stay in tact! ;)
